dumpling sauce recipe

A simple dumpling dipping sauce is soy sauce, black vinegar (or rice vinegar), and roasted sesame oil, at roughly 2-2-1 ratio, ie. 1 tbsp soy, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tsp sesame oil. Start with that trifecta and you’re good to go, dump away!

Beyond that, you can build a more complex sauce. Don’t worry about getting it wrong - it’s all about personal preference and taste! Try different variations until you find your magic sauce. Common additions: toasted sesame seeds, chopped scallion, minced garlic, cilantro.

Spicy lovers, add heat of your choice: chopped fresh bird’s eye chili, chili oil, chili paste. You can find tons of spicy condiment options at an Asian supermarket. We like chili oil (aka chili crisp) the best, as the infused oil adds another flavour dimension.
